ABN Development has the unique ability to see “around corners” and anticipate the needs of utilities. By using forgotten assets already in place and existing land positions, we are able to efficiently manage more renewable power while cutting back on traditional power sources. The result is a repurposing of the past to energize the future in ways that some don’t see yet.
For example, new HVDC (high-voltage direct current) design and technology allows automated, bi-directional flow of major high-voltage power lines. Those lines can be placed within abandoned or under utilized pipeline that are no longer needed for their original purpose. When this is coupled with new state-of-the-art pumped water storage projects, power demand growth from data centers and new variable flow renewable projects can be be efficiently managed via a completely underground, minute-by-minute automated flow system. In many areas, archaic oil-fired load management systems can be replaced.
New fiber optic lines and systems are complementary to the HVDC work mentioned above. This will encourage construction of new data centers by coupling new, efficient power sources with the latest fiber optic technology.
Focusing on Energy for the Future
Underground Power Development
![]()
Many states and cities are implementing very ambitious renewable conversion mandates. Using our patented process and materials, ABN provides redevelopment plans that allow us to achievement those conversions along timelines previously thought impossible. Our work addresses stakeholder concerns typically seen with traditional expansions in a way that is efficient, useful, and cost-efficient with minimal intrusions. The result produces higher power voltage delivered to harder to reach areas with fewer disputes.
Secure, High-Density Fiber Optics
Power Development and the high compound annual growth rates (CAGR) seen for digital transmission assets (> 20% CAGR) provide interesting parallel opportunities to the power plans. Cities can expand fiber capacity in bulk, between hubs, with less intrusion and without the challenges of road construction moratoriums. Our work offers new ways to implement fiber capacity using the latest cable technology between key strategic hubs.
Land Redevelopment

Via ownership interests in abandoned lines, additional surface fee land rights – usually in partnership – are also owned. We add value to this land via our fiber and power development efforts and work to monetize that value timely related development; data centers, power hubs, digital warehouses/wholesale ventures.
Commercial Partnerships

Nearly all of our work is done in partnership with larger entities that initially owned the underused or abandoned assets. We create a repurposing plan, employ our patents, and generate value proposition that helps the original owner defer any planned write-down and to the contrary, re-invest in the asset generating new business lines and cash flow from previously empty assets.
